Android 4.0 on Galaxy Nexus S: Google is testing update

Google employees currently receive the latest operating system version on their mobile phones. The rest of the world must continue to wait. So far, Android 4.0 "ICS" only available on the Galaxy Nexus.

Who works at Google and has a Nexus S, can currently appreciate a dose of "Ice Cream Sandwich". The Webkonzern currently testing the update to Android 4.0 for the former flagship smartphone. As Cnet reports that Google employees have the new software without notice by "over-the-Air" (OTA) update received. So Google is testing the new software on a large scale until the update of the Nexus S will come when all other owners of the benefit unit.

It is expected that this final test phase will last a few weeks. Until then, the current flagship Android Galaxy Nexus is the only mobile phone preloaded with "Ice Cream Sandwich". The device is still not available everywhere. In Austria, it should be ready in late December. In Britain, the model has been since 17 November on the market.

Who does not want to wait for the official Google update, can help out with alternative versions of the software. The popular CyanogenMod is already developed with Android 4.0 as a base. Best enjoyed with caution alpha versions are already available for the Nexus S. For the Galaxy, the software has already reached beta status.
